Warming up I. Give the students time to look at the picture at the first page of Unit 4. And discuss the following questions: 1. Where are the students? 2. What are they doing? 3. Are they happy? II. Ask the students to listen to the recorder and match the pictures with the words in the box. (SB, p48) III. Ask the students some questions: 1. How many hours do you study in the classroom every day? 2. Do you have PE class? 3. Do you go to workshops or factories to learn practical skills? IV. Then ask the students to listen to a dialogue and match the expressions with the pictures. get up, start your class, have breakfast, walk to school, do sports 教学环节设计 Presentation I. Tell the students they are going to listen to a dialogue of Listening about Lin Wei’s school life. Teach them how to use the words and expressions in the box: different from… high school, skill, the whole day, machine, advice II. Ask the students to listen again and finish exercise 3 at page 49. III. Ask the students to listen to the dialogue again and do exercise 4 at page 49. IV. Ask the students to read the dialogue in pairs. V. Ask them to act out the dialogue in pairs. 2

Listening Practice Give the students some advice on listening skills, using the learning tips on page 49. I. Help the students learn the new words and expressions by reading aloud after the recorder. II. Ask the students to read a short passage, which has several missing words. III. Ask the students to listen to the passage and fill in the blanks using the given words in the box (SB, p50) while listening. IV. Let them listen again and finish exercise 7 at page50. Ask the students to do exercise 8 at page 50. * Encourage the students to work in pairs to finish the exercise 1 at page 56.
