Since we entered Grade Three, instead of learning from textbooks and other language sources, students in my class have been guided by the teacher to practice a large amount of test papers over and over again.

Opinions are divided in our class. To those who agree, this practice can help students achieve high scroes in NMET due to its high pertinence. They also believe students can get knowledge about English by doing exercises. However, many others argue that doing test papers is not learning how to use English but leraning how to pass exams. They strongly hold teachers should teach students how to fish, not just give them fish to feed on.

To me, it is not worthwhile to do so many test papers. Firstly, nothing can be more tedious to us teenagers than the endless repetition of doing exercises of the same pattern. Secondly, these exercises contribute nothing to our language ability, even little to our passing NMET. After all, NMET is never testing the exercises we have done, but new ones we've never seen before. Only if we have developed English ability can we achieve high in NMET, and in future use of English as well.

On the way back Sunday morning, we'll stop somewhere for breakfast. So, you just have to bring a bathing suit and a sleeping bag.

M：Well, I do love camping and sleeping out. Where is this place?

W：Well, it's about an hour and a half to the place where we meet the trip leader. We leave our car there and they drive us and the canoes upriver to the places where we start canoeing.

Mr. Stevenson was the owner of a general appliance store. He had seen many newly－weds coming into his store to shop for their first refrigerator, washer and dryer，and air－conditioner. Pen and pencil in hand，they would ask him a lot of questions about price，features and after－sale services, but they would usually walk away at the end of their inquiry. The other day a young couple came into his store. They asked him all the usual questions and he answered all of them patiently. But when he suggested an order at the end, they replied firmly，“We'll have to look around other places first.” Although feeling a bit disappointed, Mr. Stevenson did not show it. Instead, he smiled, moved closer and said, “I know you will go to Discount Dan to look at the price tags. That's perfectly understandable. I do the same. In fact, they sell the same stuff as we do. But if you buy things there，there is something you will not get. And that is me. I come with everything I sell. I've been in the business for thirty years and in a few years' time，I'm going to give my stores to my daughter and son－in－law. I hope they will carry on the family business. I stand behind everything I sell and I will make sure that you will never regret buying things from me.” After this short speech, Mr. Stevenson offered the young couple some ice－cream to thank them for their interest. Impressed by his honesty and sincerity，the young couple decided to place an order.
