以小区为例，小区保安中心是适应技防设备广泛应用建立的，由保安中心对所属保安区技防设备进行24小时监控值守，并通过计算机系统将报警信息送往市局综合警力指挥中心。

用户报警器与计算机监控中心采用应答式报警，一旦发生警情，相应报警点的报警器或游动报警台立即动作，触发它所连接的二级用户报警台，该二级用户报警台便将它所对应的编码按特定形式发射出去（有线或无线—），经监控中心接收并送给计算机处理。计算机首先对其进行核实，无误后才一面向值班人员发出报警，一面通过监控中心电台发出报警的二级用户的警台发出“报警已查实处理完毕，勿再继续发报”的命令，如果这时出现瞬间的网络阻塞或干扰，使监控中心无法接收到二级用户报警台发来的报警信息，那么二级用户报警台就会自动地多次数地报警，每次报警信号发出，二级用户报警台就会自动地控制中心的回答确认。监控中心接收到报警信号，即刻自动回复一个确认信号给二级用户报警台，令其停止发报。形成双向应答式工作方式。同时，监控中心可以通过与二级用户报警台的无线对讲功能完成报警人工再核实以及对每个外勤人员游动报警台的统一指挥调度。
