1. adventure noun /?d?vent??r/
an unusual, exciting, and possibly dangerous activity, such as a trip or experience, or the excitement produced by such an activity 冒险,历险;奇遇;刺激
例句:
She had some exciting adventures in Egypt. 她在埃及经历了一些很刺激的奇遇。
We got lost on the Metro - it was quite an adventure. 我们在地铁里迷了路,还真是挺惊险的。
2. curiosity noun /?kj??ri??s?ti/
an eager wish to know or learn about something 好奇心;求知欲 例句:
I’m burning with curiosity - you must tell me who won! 我心急火燎地想知道——你一定要告诉我是谁赢了!

3. remain verb /r??me?n/
1). to stay in the same place or in the same condition 停留,留下;保持不变,仍然是 例句:
The doctor ordered him to remain in bed for a few days. 医生嘱咐他要继续卧床几天。 He remained silent. 他保持沉默。
2). to continue to exist when other parts or other things no longer exist 剩余;余留;遗留 例句:
After the flood, nothing remained of the village. 洪水过后,村庄荡然无存。
Only a few hundred of these animals remain today. 现在这种动物只存留下来数百只。
4. character noun /?k?r?kt?r/
1). the particular combination of qualities in a person or place that makes them different from others 性格,个性;特征
例句:
Politeness is traditionally part of the British character. 待人礼貌客气历来是英国人性格的一部分。
It would be very out of character (= not typical) of her to lie. 撒谎可不符合她的个性。
2). qualities that are interesting and unusual 风格,特色,特点 例句:
I’d prefer an old place with a bit of character. 我偏爱有特色的老地方。
Old books are said to give a room character. 据说旧书能使房间别具一格。
3). a person represented in a film, play, or story (电影、戏剧或故事中的)人物,角色 例句:

5. benefit noun & verb /?ben?f?t/
1). n. a helpful or good effect, or something intended to help 利益,好处;优势 例句:
The discovery of oil brought many benefits to the town. 石油的发现给该镇带来很多利益。
One of the many benefits of foreign travel is learning how to cope with the unexpected.
学会如何应付突发事件是海外旅游的众多益处之一。 2). v. to be helped by something or to help someone 得益,受惠;(使)受益;对…有帮助 例句:
I feel that I have benefited greatly from her wisdom. 我觉得从她的睿智中我获益颇多。

6. inspire verb /?n?spa??r/
1). to make someone feel that they want to do something and can do it 激励,鼓舞 例句:
His confident leadership inspired his followers. 他那自信的领导风采激励着他的追随者。
After her trip to Venezuela, she felt inspired to learn Spanish. 委内瑞拉之行促使她下决心学习西班牙语。
2). to make someone have a particular strong feeling or reaction 唤起,激起 例句:
She inspires great loyalty among her followers. 她激起了追随者强烈的忠诚感。
The captain’s heroic effort inspired them with determination. 船长的英勇行为激发了他们的决心。
3). to give someone an idea for a book, film, product, etc. 赋予灵感;激发(想法) 例句:
This is a piece of music inspired by dolphin sounds 这是受海豚声音的启示而谱写的一支乐曲
The design of the car has inspired many imitations. 受这款车设计的引发出现了很多模仿品。
7. predict verb /pr??d?kt/
to say that an event or action will happen in the future, especially as a result of knowledge or experience 预言;预料,预计
例句:
It’s still not possible to accurately predict the occurrence of earthquakes. 现在仍无法准确预报地震的发生。
Who could have predicted that within ten years he’d be in charge of the whole company?
谁能预料到10年内他会掌管整个公司?
8. touch verb /t?t?/
1). to put your hand or another part of your body lightly onto and off something or someone
碰,触摸 例句:
That paint is wet - don’t touch (it). 油漆未干——别碰(它)。
He touched the girl on the arm to get her attention. 他碰了碰女孩的胳膊以引起她的注意。
