Intelligent Control System of TextileMill's Air-conditioning

Abstract: This paper briefly analyzes thepresent situation of textile mill's air-conditioning system. Since it is

difficult to establish detailed math model to control a textile mill's air-conditioning system because of the influence of various factors such as the differences in seasons, regions, etc. ,most air-conditioning equipment can not be controlled automatically. This paper suggests utilizing multi-function data acquisition card to collect the data about the temperature and humidity of a workshop, processing the data on a PC, comparing them with the expert database, and then using the 485 serial port expanding module to output the parameters, which are used to control the inverter, so that the purpose of adjusting the temperature and humidity of the workshop is achieved.

Introduction

Textile industry has been a vital part of the economy in China today. In the process of textile production, air quality needs to be strictly controlled. The fluctuating range of relative humidity has to be small ( about ±5 %) and temperature should not be too low ( ≤20 ℃ ) or too high ( ≥31 ℃) ,

otherwise the product quality and working efficiency will be jeopardized. On the other hand, the air-conditioning equipment consumes lots o f ener gy , which amounts to 25%-30% of the consumed electric power , as well as 40% of the total consumed water of a textile mill ( in summe r) [1] . Therefore, decreasing energy consumption of air-conditioning has become an important aspect of reducing cost. Because of the influence of various factors such as the differences in seasons, regions, temperature between day and night, etc . , an exact match model for the air-conditioning system of a textile mill is very difficult to be built. Currently , most a ir-conditioning equipment can not be controlled automa tica lly. To control the temperature and humidity of the workshop, improve the output and quality of textile products, reduce energy consumption, and increase labour efficiency and the stability of control system , reliability and remarkable economic benef it is a must.

1The Control System

The control system is designed to collect the data about the temperature and humidity of a workshop by the mult-function data acquisition card, and then transmit them to a powerful PC and process the information by comparing the data with the expert database, then use the 485 serial port expanding module to output the parameters to the control of the inverter . Finally the purpose of adjusting temperature and humidity of the workshop is achieved. The system's block diagram is shown in Fig.1.

2 Design of Hardw are Circuit

2. 1 Selection of acquisition card

According to the requirements of the controlsy stem, the PC L-812 PG high performance and multi-f unction data acquisition card of Yanxiang is adopted. It is a universal data acquisition card with multi-functions and high performance, which is suitable for the IBM PCs and its compatible computers. On one PC L-812PG board, all data acquisition functions are integrated such as A/ D,D/ A, D/ O, and D/ I. AT Bus; PC L-812PG has 16 single ended input channels; bipolar ; programmable gain:5-cascades gains of PC L-812PG ( # 1, # 2 , # 4 , # 8, #16) ; sampling and keeping on board; two 12 bit single chip multiplication analog output channels; 16 road digita l output channels; 16 road digital input channels; 3 programmable 16 bit downward counters; programmable sampling speed, its maximal speed is 100 kHz under the model of Direct Marketing Association ( DMA ) ; 3 A/ D trigger models: software trigger, programmable timer trigger , external pulse trigger ; AT Interrupt Request( IRQ) abilit y: PCL-812PG has maximal 9 grades IRQ andall can be selected by using jump line; PCL-812PG has an integrated DC-DC converter to provide steady power source. Universal terminal plate PCLD-880 is selected as inter face board. When there are m any sampling points, the digital output ports can be selected to control multiplex selector to expand to meet the requirements. 2. 2 Temperature and humidity sensor

The sampling and processing of the data is the key to control. Because of a relatively large size of a workshop in a textile mill, the front-end temperature and humidity sensor greatly affects the precision of measure and control. To satisfy the requirements of the system, this project selects the RL-TH-02 temperature and humidity sensor produced by Beijing Ruili Wei'er Company, which has a 4-20 mA o utput a nd is co nvenie nt for long-distance transmission, with degree of precision of ±0. 5 ℃, the

humidity of ±3%RH, and the measur ement r ang e o f 0-50℃ with 0-100%RH. 2. 3 Input and output circuits

Multi-function data acquisition card PCL-812PG has 16 road digital output channels, and the

data is output through universal terminal board PC LD-880 to control louver, water pumps, and heating equipment, etc . Meanwhile, the number of a cquisition points can be expanded through a Multi-channel selective switch. The control circuit is shown in Fig. 2. In the case of long distance transmission or strong electromagnetic interference from the environment, optical fiber can be adopted for data transmission.

2. 4 Communication expanding and inverter

The set value of the inverter can be given by key board, analog ( electric current signal, voltage signal) , and long-distance communication. The first two methods are widely applied to the general control system. However , the characteristics of the system need to adopt long-distance communication method because it is difficult to establish an exact math model to control the air-conditioning system of a spinning mill which is influenced by various factors, such as the differences in seasons, regions, and temperature between day and night, etc.The MIC ROMA STER 430 of Siemens is used. It has been specially designed for use with the fans and pumps,with high performance-price ratio .

When the Industrial Personal Com puter ( IPC ) communicates with the Siemens inverter, the universal serial interf ace ( USS) protocol is adopted, which is a communication protocol based on RS-485 Bus[ 2] . To realize the communication, MOXA CP-132 serial expanding card is used to expand 485 serial expa nding card in the IPC, which is a RS-422/ 485 card with two serial ports

especially designed for industrial communication conditions and supporting two unattached ports of RS-422 or RS-485. In the one-to-many application, each serial port can control about 32 pieces of equipments. Each card adopts Automatic Data Direction Control ( ADDCTM ) . It can easily manage data's transmission and receiving of RS-485 in Half-Duplex communication serial port. In addition, adopting control hardware flux of chip and built-in terminal resistance can ensure data's integrality. Adopting insulation between light and electricity, surge protection can make operation conditions safer and more reliable. The performance of the CP-132 serial port card is especially suitable for the industrial environment communication which requires higher stability.

3 Software of System and Its Realization

The softw are of a system mainly consists of data collection, data process, and the output of inverter . The main flow chart is shown in Fig.3.

3. 1 Data acquisition module

Data acquisition module is mainly made up of amplification circuit and A/ D conversion card, and it turns analog electricity signal output from a tempera ture and humidity sensor into digital
