Startup Furnace Commissioning Procedure
1 Objective
Check the furnace performance including design, construction and equipment through integrated startup. Verify the furnace and associated subsystems can meet design specification.
2 Work Scope
Within boiler scope, following equipments are required for furnace startup:

Steam and Water System Natural Gas burner System Related I&C control systems
3 Acceptance Criteria
3.1 Main operating data within normal range as specified in design specification.
3.2 Auxiliary equipment operates normally and operating parameters within normal range. 3.3 I&C instruments indicate correctly.
3.4 I&C interlocks and protections work normally.
4 Prerequisites
4.1 Boiler construction and equipments installation are completed in accordance with the latest design drawing. Working site has been cleaned up.
4.2 Preoperational commissioning items including hydrostatic test, furnace roasting and boiling out etc. have been completed. Test results meet acceptance criteria, and all temporary modifications have been restored to normal.
4.3 Single equipment commissioning of auxiliary equipment within boiler scope has been completed. All auxiliary equipment is ready for service without any deficiency.
Individual system commissioning of the subsystems within boiler scope has been completed with all deficiencies corrected. 4.4 Power supplies are in service.
4.5 Compressed air system for instrumentation is in service.
4.6 Demineralized water system and make-up water system are ready for service. 4.7 Cooling water system is in ready for service.

4.8 The natural gas system has been installed, the related measuring equipments are in ready for service and the related valves are properly commissioned.
4.9 Related dampers of the feeding water system are properly commissioned. Correct opening and closing direction, correct position indication and free movement should be attained.
4.10 Electric contact water level gauge and remote monitoring system are in the service. Instruments and auto-control loops work normally in accordance with design.
5 Precautions
5.1 Monitor running parameters closely to prevent equipment damage during unit operation.
5.2 Operating parameters of boiler and associated auxiliary equipment must be controlled within normal range as specified in manufacturer’s manual.
5.3 Motor Insulation should be checked before startup in the case of long-time standby. 5.4 Logic and protection test for boiler and main auxiliary equipment should be before furnace startup.
6 Procedure
6.1 Inspection before the Furnace startup
6.1.1 The boiler proper installation and heat preservation have been finished. 6.1.2 Inside of the drum has been cleaned and the man hole has been closed. 6.1.3 The industrial water system commissioning has been finished.
6.1.4 The thermal measuring instruments have been calibrated and the indications are correct.
6.1.5 Feeding water pump commissioning has been finished and the valves of the steam and water system test normally.
6.1.6 All the rotating machinery and the fans commissioning have been finished. 6.1.7 Medicine system and sampling system are ready for service. 6.1.8 Drain and discharge system are ready for service. 6.2 Inspection before ignition.
6.2.1 Check the related equipment and system which will go into service.
6.2.2 The cooling water and lubricating oil level of all the rotating machinery are normal. 6.2.3 All the thermal equipments and meters are in service.
