考试复习所用教材:甘肃文化出版社出版的现代远程教育系列教材之《大学英语》下册。

考试题型介绍:2015年5月的考试包括六道大题,满分100分,90分钟。

第一部分是交际英语,共5小题 ,每小题2分,总共10分。主要对日常交际用语进行考察。答题的时候,不仅要考虑说话的语法是否正确,更要考虑哪一种表达更符合情景。

1. Could I ……? 是一种礼貌的询问方式,是交际英语中常用的一种句型。回答此种问话的时候常用yes或者no来作答,也有根据实际情况省略掉yes或no的。e. g. Could I borrow your pencil for a while? (Yes or sure), here you are./ no, mine is lost.

2. How can I help you?/ What can I do for you? 是服务人员询问顾客时的礼貌用法,相当于汉语的“请问你需要点儿什么?”e. g. KFC. What can I do for you? I would like some cola.

3. What does sb. look like? 其实是询问某人长什么样子。e. g. he/she is tall and fat.

4. What’s on the cinema? 询问电影院上映什么电影。e. g. we should go to check./ Harry Potter 5, I guess.

5. Why don’t you/ why not……? 这是委婉地提建议的一种表达方式。 可以说,that’s a good idea. / I would like to do ,but…

第二部分是单项选择,每小题2分,10小题,共20分。主要考察的是课文中出现的语法、句法、词汇。比如介词短语的正确用法、词语辨析、倒装句、固定搭配、主谓语单复数问题等。注意一些词语以及动词短语等的同义辨析:at most, at least, at last 与 at the end; pessimist, optimist, organist 和 racist名词的辨析;according to, even if, in light of 和 as well as等连词和介词的区别;blend, deliver, mix 和 mediate等动词的辨析; 表示发声的动词需要引起重视; 倒装句是重点考察对象; trousers 做主语时,要用表示复数的be动词。 第三部分是阅读理解,包括2篇短文,10道选择题,每题2分;2道简答题,每题5分,共30分。考察的题均可通过仔细阅读在文中找到答案。

以下是阅读理解的模拟题型,可作参考。本次考试的阅读理解难度略高于模拟题。

Passage 1

We provide summer English courses and you will enjoy learning about American culture and improve your English. The courses last for 4 weeks. They start at the beginning of July and August. Our teachers are very experienced. They teach English classes for 4 hours a day. You can choose between small groups of 2 or 3, or larger groups of up to 15. We provide weekly tests to see the progress you’re making with your language skills. We also provide books and other materials.

As well as learning English, we want you to experience life in the USA. You live with an American family and take part in American life. You have meals with them and do some activities with them, too. This is the most interesting part of the course. Many families create friendships with the students. Of course, if you prefer, we can arrange hotel accommodation.

Of course, you can do many things in Los Angeles. Every day we have activities after class. You can choose to take trips to Hollywood, Disneyland or the famous beaches around LA. You can also go to various shopping centers, sports centers, movies and concerts. There are also weekend visits organized to San Francisco and other places of interest in California.

Can the Computer Learn from Experience?

Computers have been taught to play not only checkers, but also championship chess, which is a fairly accurate yardstick for measuring the computer’s progress in the ability to learn from experience.

Because the game requires logical reasoning, chess would seem to be perfectly suited to the computer. All a programmer has to do is to give the computer a program evaluating the consequences of every possible response to every possible move, and the computer will win every time.
