What is body surfing?

Bodysurfing is related to riding on a wave with no help from aid tools such as a surfboard. That's why it is called the \form of surfing. In fact, it is one of very few extreme sports——free climbing and cliff diving are others—that can be practiced using nothing but the human body. How do you do it?

To catch a wave, swim to where the waves break and, as one approaches, start swimming towards the beach. You must try to travel at the same speed as the wave and, if you do it correctly, you will feel the wave lifting you and pushing you forwards. Then try and cut along the surface of the wave. What do you need?

It is more enjoyable and safer if you use flippers (large flat rubber shoes). This is because they enable you to swim faster and surf along them more easily. A wetsuit is also advisable. Another aid is a handboard, a mini-surf board about the size of an iron, held in one hand to speed up along the wave. If you are lucky enough to be surfing in warm water, make sure you have your boardshorts at the ready. Unofficial world championship

Bodysurfing is not a professional sport, but in Hawaii there is such a festival called the Pipeline Bodysurfing Classic each year. Local bodysurfers compete against athletes from places such as Australia, Brazil, Japan or France. Famous bodyboarder Mike Stewart has won the event no fewer than 12 times,

This is what HBO's Veep has been trying to do—by making US presidential election into a comedy.

Presented for the first time in 2012, Veep follows the daily life of Selina Meyer, the fictional vice-president (or \ for short) of the US. We see that as much as Meyer wants to have an influence, she—despite being the second-in-command of the country—is constantly ignored by the president and kept away from important meetings. Meyer herself isn't exactly competent: she has to put out political fires every once in a while, but usually ends up making things worse.

The show also finds humor in a much darker side of politics: the unreal smiles and wrongdoings of politicians. When a mass shooting happens in the show, for example, instead of feeling shocked, Meyer is actually glad, because she feels it may help draw people's attention from her. “It feels like peeking (窥视)behind a curtain and seeing the truth of who these politicians really are,” wrote reporter Kathryn VanArendonk.

But Veep is refreshing not just for the way it handles politics, but also because its leading role is a woman politician, especially in a comedy, considering the fact that comedies used to be an all-male kingdom. “There's more opportunity(机会)for women in comedic roles than 20 or 30 years ago,\Julia Louis-Dreyfus, 58 this year, who plays Meyer, said. \girlfriend. ”

In the 7th and final season of Veep, which came out on March 31,2019, Meyer is finally running for president. No matter where the show—and Meyer—is heading, and whether you appreciate its way to deal with politics, the bottom line here is that Veep is funny.

A. 49.

B. 51.

C. 53.

A. They are fit for politics. B. They don't like comedies.

C. They were left out of some fields. D. They seldom used to be successful. 27. What is the best title for the text?

A. Meyer runs for president C. Women like power

B. Politics can be funny D. A comedian realizes her dream C

Even though vaccination (接种疫苗)is a powerful defense against disease, some voices are against it. In a recent letter, the American Medical Association ( AMA) urged big social media including Amazon, Facebook and Google to take action to defend medical science on their platforms.

It said that vaccine-preventable diseases that do harm to the public health like measles (麻疹)are on the rise. Measles cases worldwide jumped more than 30% in 2017 compared to 2016, with the largest increases seen among nations in the Americas, Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. Vaccine- preventable diseases are increasing largely because many people are unwilling to get vaccinated. And some of these people even encourage others to refuse vaccination. So this year, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the anti-vaccination movement a top10-health threat.

\Vaccination is one of the most cost-effective ways of avoiding disease―it currently prevents 2-3 million deaths a year, and a further 15 million could be avoided if global coverage of vaccinations improved,\

A research article published in 1998 in a medical journal suggested a link between a vaccine and the development of autism(孤独症)in young children. Although the research has been suspected and many other studies have proved that vaccinations do not cause autism, the article is still impressing people strongly today. Another reason for the growth in the anti-vaccination movement is widespread misinformation on social media, which can turn people against vaccination. \If a concerned parent consistently sees information in their Newsfeed that casts doubt on the safety of vaccines, it could cause them to disregard the
