Abstract: By analyzing and studying the principle of taking breath amid the performance of a
song, this thesis not only highlights the importance of it, but makes a comparison between the general
meaning of breathing and it. The conclusion is that it is originated from breathing but not equal with it.
This thesis also makes a summary of different kinds of taking breath with corresponding situations,
put forward a view that taking breath itself is of little proportion in the performance of a song, never
the less it is the key point serving as a connecting link between the preceding and the following, which
will even influence the entire breathing condition.
